From Fujifilm to founder

Begins with Fujifilm
While studying at Jagannath University, Mr. Shah Alam took on part-time work with Fujifilm in Bangladesh — his introduction to negative retouching, film development and darkroom printing.
Sent to Japan
Fujifilm sent him to Japan for advanced technical training, deepening the craft he'd started learning in the darkroom.
Back to Bangladesh
He returned home and rejoined Fujifilm Bangladesh, carrying that training into the local industry.
Sublimation printing, USA
A trip to the United States to learn sublimation-printing techniques — a technology that would become core to Photohut's later work.
Photohut is founded
Mr. Shah Alam established Photohut with a team of six, bringing two decades of darkroom, Japanese and American technical training into one Dhanmondi lab.
Still hands-on
Photohut continues to operate from Dhanmondi, now extending that same craft to visa photography, restoration and — soon — online ordering.
Staying useful as the industry changed twice over
Film gave way to digital, and routine passport-photo demand gave way to phone cameras. Photohut's answer both times was the same: invest in the machinery and the skill to do more than a kiosk can.
